Marcelle G. Butler, age 101, of Sheldon, Iowa who passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon. Her Memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Kevin Gingerich ~ officiating.

Marcelle G. Butler
Marcelle Germaine (Mathis) Butler, was born November 28, 1917 in St. Die, France, the daughter of Alphonse and Marguerite (Poirel) Mathis. In October of 1921, she came to the United States with her parents and brother, Paul and her grandmother, Louise Mathis, one aunt and one uncle. The family farmed by Blairsburg, Iowa. On February 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Gilbert (Gib) Butler Sr. in Bethany, Missouri. To this union 2 children were born, a daughter, Janice (stillborn 1943) and a son, Gib Jr. in 1944. Marcelle work at Beam Industries in Webster City, Iowa for 20 years. Gib Sr. passed away on April 13, 2005, shortly after, Marcelle moved to Sheldon, Iowa to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Donna. While in Sheldon, she joined the United Methodist Church. She also joined the Foster Grandparent Program. She worked in Mrs. Holles’ Room, helping children for 4 years.
Marcelle enjoyed church when she could attend. She also liked traveling, car races, fishing and playing Yahtzee. She had many friends in Sheldon, but never forgot her Lord and he never forgot her.
Marcelle is survived by her son, Gib Jr. and daughter-in-law, Donna Butler of Sheldon; She had 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, Neil Butler of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Scott Butler of Spokane, Washington; Gary Butler of Webster City, Iowa; Nicole Krusemark of Webster City, Iowa and Chris Butler of Sheldon, Iowa. She also had 9 great-grandchildren. A brother, Rev. Paul Mathis and his wife, Velma; a niece, Pauline Bubeck and a nephew, Ron Mathis and several cousins, a former daughter-in-law, Sharon Butler of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and many other friends.
