Margaret Thelma Reekers, age 92 of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Paul Van Maaren ~ officiating.
Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Margaret Thelma Reekers, the daughter of Tony and Trina (Vlaming) Noordhoek, was born December 31, 1930 on her grandparent’s farm near Sanborn, Iowa. She grew up on a farm and attended a country school near Ritter, Iowa. She graduated from Sheldon High School in 1942. After high school she remained at home with her parents helping out on the farm. On July 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Reekers at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Reekers family farm. The couple farmed for many years. They moved into Sheldon February 5, 2011. George passed away on February 16, 2011. Margaret moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in 2011. She passed away there on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, reaching the age of 92 years, 6 months and 18 days.
Margaret was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She enjoyed Counted Cross-stitch, crocheting, reading, gardening, especially growing lots of flowers, bird watching, vacationing, sightseeing and working on puzzles.
Margaret is survived by her children, a son, David and his wife, Carol Reekers of Sioux Center, Iowa; two daughters, Janet and her husband, Marty Ennor of George, Iowa, and Beth Reekers of George, Iowa; two grandchildren, Dina and her husband, Jeff Vander Wilt, and Stacie and her husband, Brian Stofferan; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin Van Beek, Cheyenne Thurman, Alexis (Grant) Carlson, Makayla (Ross) Johannsen, Aubree, Addisen and Ty Vander Wilt, Ian and Owen Williams, Rachel (Dustin) Ackerman, Brett (Bridgette) Stofferan, Cole (fiancée, McKenzie) Stofferan, 8 great-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Braxton, Ellie & Ivy Thurman, Hadley, Hudson, Hadyn Stofferan, Wade Ackerman; two sisters, Wilma Schnieder of Rock Valley, Iowa; Greta Wilderman of Sheldon, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Noordhoek of Orange City, Iowa; Gladys Noordhoek of Cresco, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Tony and Trina Noordhoek and her stepmother, Josie (Van Nyhuis) Noordhoek; a son, Brian, 2 grandson, Jeremy Reekers and Brian Williams; 3 brothers, Bernard and his wife, Bertie Noordhoek, Gerry and his wife, Deanna Noordhoek and Paul Noordhoek and 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Schnieder and Arnie Wilderman.
