Marian Ream

Marian I. Ream, age 90, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Pastor Craig Nissen officiating. Graveside Services will be Friday at 2:30 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church prior to the funeral service. Marian Ileen Ream was born on August 21, 1926 in Viborg, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Richard and Gertie (Christensen) Andersen. She lived her youth in Sioux City, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Sioux City Central High School. She was united in marriage to Arthur Ream of Westfield, Iowa on July 7, 1946 in Sioux City. They lived and farmed in Merrill, Iowa. They enjoyed being around family and close friends. Arthur passed away on March 4, 1975. Marian worked at the elementary school where she was a dietary assistant, serving meals, and doing custodial work in the evening. She retired in 1987. Marian was a good cook and baker. She made the best homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles, lemon meringue pies with a lard crust, and chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, afghans, dresses for her granddaughters and many other things. She lived in LeMars, Iowa where she volunteered many hours at the Christian Need Center and crocheted doilies, kitchen towels and baby blankets for Floyd Valley Hospital Gift Shop. Marian moved to Sheldon, Iowa to be closer to her daughter, Janice. In the winter she stayed in Texas with her son, Charles. She passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Raymond and Rebecca Ream of Toele, UT, Thomas and Dee Ream of Westbend, WI, Carol & Daryl Prittie of Murrysville, PA, Charles and Gail Ream of Matador, TX, Janice and Brian Wielenga of Sheldon, IA; eleven grandchildren, Arthur, Stephanie, Alison, Joshua, Kacy, Callie, Gabe, Charli, Mandi, Tara, and Jesse; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Miller of Sioux City, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
