Marilyn Sue Isom
November 27, 1950 - July 26, 2026
Marilyn Sue Isom Was born to Harold and Clara (Hodge) Marchant in Fort Dodge, Iowa on November 27, 1950. She was welcomed home by her big sister Karen. The family moved around to several Iowa communities while her dad worked for the Railroad before settling in Peterson, Iowa in 1961. She finished up her school years in Peterson where she met and fell in love with Roger Isom.
Roger and Marilyn married July 30, 1971 in Peterson, Iowa. In 1972 they welcomed their only child, a son Paul. Paul and Marilyn always had a close relationship. It was known by many that Paul was her world and she doted on him no matter how old he was. The family moved to Sutherland, Iowa in 1973 where she lived until her passing.
Marilyn did restaurant work for a while before changing over to the meat packing industry. She had worked at a couple different meat packing plants with a total of 31 years in the industry and retired from Tyson’s in Cherokee, Iowa.
Throughout their marriage Marilyn and Roger loved spending time on their motorcycle. They were part of Cherokee’s H.O.G chapter as well as Abate of Iowa District 8. Marilyn was an Abate member for 29 years and spent a few years as District 8’s event coordinator. She was always up for participating in anything motorcycle related from Poker Runs, Rally’s and a trip to Sturgis. When it got difficult to get on a bike any longer she was always ready to follow along in her van.
Family time was important to her. She enjoyed spending time boating and attending concerts with Roger and Paul. Whenever there was a family event, be it close by or in Nebraska, she was set to attend.
Marilyn was preceded by her parents, Roger’s parents and her brother in law David. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Roger. Son and daughter in law Paul and Trish Isom. Grandchildren Trenton Mcclaren(Sarah), Keaton Mcclaren and Jenna Norton(Arik). Four great grandchildren. Sister and husband Karen and Dave Gunnerson. Brother in law and wife Rod and Judy Isom.
