Celebration of life services for Marlene J. Kots, age 85, of Sutherland, who passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her celebration of life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Christ Community Church in Primghar with Pastor Dennis Hietbrink and Pastor Cory Grimm, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

MARLENE J. KOTS
Marlene Joan Kots, the daughter of John and Hattie (Voetberg) Overweg was born on January 23, 1940, in Stickney, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Darwin Kots on June 8, 1959, in Orange City, Iowa. Marlene worked various jobs but her true passion was being the librarian for Christ Community Church in Primghar. Marlene passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, reaching the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 25 days.
Marlene was a member of the Christ Community Church in Primghar. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, knitting, crocheting, camping, and fishing. She loved her flowers and gardening but most of all loved being with her family.
Left to cherish Marlene’s memory are her husband, Darwin of Sutherland; five children, Doreen And Eric Mantor of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Carla and Eddie Anderson of Yoder, Colorado, Terry Kots of Rosenberg, Texas, Julie and James Lane of Calhan, Colorado, and Ron Kots of Sutherland; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis and John Overweg; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Overweg, granddaughter, Jacquline Kots, two sisters, and 1 brother.
