Marlys A. Scherlin, 90, of Hartley, formerly of Primghar passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Community Memorial Health in Hartley. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.

Her graveside service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Greenwood Friends Cemetery in Berwick, Iowa.

Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.

MARLYS A. SCHERLIN

Marlys A. Scherlin, the daughter of Frank and Inez (Howard) Mally was born on December 31, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Berwick and graduated from Southeast Polk High School. She continued her education, becoming a Hospital Administrator. On December 21, 1957, she married Lloyd Scherlin, the couple later divorced in 1993. In 1970 she began her career at Baum Harmon Hospital as the hospital administrator until 1993. In 1993 she continued her career in Creston, Iowa until her retirement in 2000. Marlys passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Marlys was the chairman for the Iowa Hospital Administrations, she enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing the piano at the church she grew up at and loved to travel the United States and a couple times in Europe.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Miller (Esa Muttilainen) of Newton, Iowa, John and his wife Jenifer Scherlin of Casper, Wyoming and Lori McDonald of Jamestown, California; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Judy) Mally; also, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Inez Mally and two brothers, Dr. Arthur Mally and Robert Eugene Mally.
