Mavis Rehder the daughter of Raymond and Lillian (Rohlfsen) Hattermann was born on the family farm near Paullina. She received her education from Paullina, graduating from Paullina High School in 1952. On November 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wesley Rehder at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. After Wes was discharged from the Army in California, they made their way back to Iowa, via Denver and Cheyanne to start a dairy farm just west of the Calumet Cemetery. A few years later they moved their dairy to a farm on the SW edge of Calumet where they farmed for many years. The couple moved to Paullina in 2004. Mavis was very dedicated to Wes as she cared for him for 20 plus years when he became wheelchair bound just a few years after retirement. Wes preceded Mavis in death on February 5, 2018. Mavis remained in Paullina for many years until entering Cobble Creek Senior Center in Sheldon and then Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley where she passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Mavis was a member of Sutherland Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, spending time on the farm, and reading from the bible. Her relationship with Jesus Christ and her family were the things most dear to her.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Murray (Kathy) Rehder of Chandler, Arizona and Rickey (Bambi) Rehder of Gold Bar Washington; six grandchildren, Erin, Jamie, Rachel, Miranda, Jennifer and Nickolas; twenty-two great grandchildren, Colton (Morgan), Julia (Matthew), Lincoln, Maxwell, Claire, Madilyn, Stella, Jack, Alice, McKennen, Oliver, Daisy, Mykah, River, Quincy, Anniston, Rehder, Tobin, Amelia, Teagyn, Valerie, and Greyson; two great-great grandchildren, Delilah and Jack; sister, Lois Olson; also other relatives and friends.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kimberly Wiles, and siblings, Faye Tangeman, Betty (Orlynn) Koehlmoos, and Alvin (Colleen) Hattermann.
