Memorial services for Melony D. Schiphoff, age 65, of Sheldon who passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

Visitation with family present will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Burial will be at a later date.

Melony Dawn Schiphoff, of Sheldon, Iowa, was born to Edwin and Mary Ellen (Stolte) Smidt on June 20, 1960, in Worthington, Minnesota. She lived her youth in Worthington, Minnesota and Sibley, Iowa with her parents and four brothers. She attended Worthington Christian and Sibley Christian grade schools, and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.

Melony married Hugh Schiphoff at Sibley Christian Reformed Church, on March 31, 1979. They were blessed with three children -- Mindy, Alex and Brett.

Over the years Melony worked a variety of jobs; most recently working at Premium Pork in Hospers, Iowa as a Quality Assurance Manager, where she acquired many friends with her co-workers.

She enjoyed vacationing at the beach and playing golf. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and looked forward to attending the Iowa State University football games with her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren gave her much joy and happiness.

After a five-year battle with cancer, she died on August 31, 2025, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Her memory is cherished by her husband, Hugh Schiphoff; children and grandchildren: Mindy (Mike) McCoy and their children, Benjamin and Cora of Ames, Iowa; Alex and (Sonya) Schiphoff of Underwood, Iowa, and Brett (Katie) Schiphoff of Minneola, Florida. Her parents, Edwin and Mary Ellen Smidt; Brothers, Verlyn (Donna) Smidt; Greg (Carol) Smidt; Scott (Carol) Smidt; Galen (Sharon) Smidt; Mother-in-law, Jenny Schram; Brother-in-law Eric Schiphoff; many nieces and nephews and their families, and many other extended relatives, friends and co-workers; and special friends, Brenda and Steve Rosenberg.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Fred and Hilda Stolte and Case and Edith Smidt, and grandson Leonardo Schiphoff.
