Michael J. Ney, age 58, of Matlock, Iowa passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Rapid City, South Dakota. His Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon with Fr. Siby Punnoose ~ officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock, Iowa.
Visitation with the family present will be on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon for 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00pm

MICHAEL “MIKE” J. NEY
Michael “Mike” Joseph Ney, the son of Joseph “Joe” Frederick and Armella “Millie” Susan (Pancelet) Ney, was born on January 19, 1963 in Sheldon, Iowa. He grew up in the Sheldon area where he attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1981. He then attended Northwest Iowa Community College, where he graduated from the Drafting Program in 1983. Mike joined the United States Navy in 1984. While in the service he met his future bride, Jackie Kaye Wolfe. They were united in marriage on October 27, 1988 at their home in Sheldon. Mike loved farming and raising hogs, he had also worked for the Matlock Feedlot and at Rosenboom Machine and Tool. Mike passed away from a motorcycle accident while attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, SD on Saturday, August 7, 2021 reaching the age of 58 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Mike was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon. He loved farming and raising his hogs and enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, golfing, playing cards (Pinochle), but most of all Mike loved life. He loved his family and his grandkids
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; their 2 sons, Daniel (Cheyenne) Thurman and Scott (Emily) Ney both of Sheldon; 6 grandchildren, Jaxon, Charlotte, Braxton, Elliot, Matthias and Isaiah; 6 brothers and sisters, Ted (Bonnie) Ney of Parma, ID; JoAnn Den Beste of Sheldon; Janice Berndt of Davenport, IA; Bill (Marie) Ney of Yelm, WA; Gene (Laura) Ney of Ashton, IA and Sharon (Bob) Shassetz of Sterling, AK , his father in law Thomas Wolfe, and other relatives and friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, a son Tommy; his granddaughter, Rowyn Ney; 2 sisters, Ruth and her husband, Marvin Strouth and Pauline Ney; 3 brothers in law, Daryl Den Beste, Herb Berndt, and Tad Wolfe as well as his mother-in-law Patricia Jones.
