Milton Heyl

Milton Heyl, age 90, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Rev. Craig Nissen officiating. Burial to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:15 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Milton George Heyl was born on May 6, 1928 in Akron, Iowa. He was the son of Ralph and Margaret (Hoffman) Heyl. He lived his youth in Akron where he attended school and then was a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Alvina Ruble of LeMars, Iowa on September 21, 1951. They lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Milton served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954. They moved back to LeMars where Milton worked for I.P.S. for 35 years before retiring. He then drove truck for friends and cars for Hamill Motors. Milton and Alvina enjoyed playing cards together and camping with the family at Yankton, South Dakota and spending 15 winters in Texas. Alvina passed away on March 3, 2018. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. He passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Marcia (John) Baker of Hornick, IA, Madelynn (Mike) Hoven of Matlock, IA, Jane (Rick) Kroon of Yankton, SD, Greg (LaRae) Heyl of Anamosa, IA; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Koopman of Falls City, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvina Heyl; his parents; 3 sisters, Dorothy Daily, Eleanor Ruble, and Madonna Boetgers.
