MYRTLE “MYRT” KORBYN
Myrtle “Myrt” Korbyn, the daughter of William and Florence (Hill) Winterberg was born February 27, 1928 in Hull, North Dakota, where she also attended a country school. Myrt was united in marriage to John William Korbyn on July 17, 1945 in her parents’ home in Hull, North Dakota. After their marriage, the couple lived in North Dakota for three years and moved to Iowa in 1948, where they farmed until her husband passed away on September 22, 2008. Myrt remained on the family farm until 2018, when she moved into the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Myrt passed away there on Friday, February 28, 2020, reaching the age of 92 years and 1 day.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon for all the years she lived in Sheldon. She enjoyed needle work, knitting, crocheting, camping and especially spending time with her family.
Myrt leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Norma and her husband, Bob Van Gorp of Sheldon, Iowa; two sons, LeRoy and his wife, Lyann Korbyn of Sheldon and Randy Korbyn of Mesa, Arizona; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, a brother, Marvin and his wife, Jeannette Winterberg of Linton, ND; also other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, a son, Dale Wayne Korbyn; a daughter-in-law, Karleen Korbyn and her parents.
