Funeral services for Patricia A. Cain 89 of Spirit Lake, Iowa and formerly of Sheldon who passed away on Tuesday August 18, 2026 at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday August 28, 2026 at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Sheldon. Mgsn. Kenneth Seifried and Father Siby Punnoose will officiate with burial in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon. There will be a parish rosary at 9:30 A.M. Friday followed by visitation with the family present until the time of the service at the church. The Andringa Funeral Home of Sheldon is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia “Pat” Ann Cain

Patricia Ann Cain, age 89 of Wahpeton, Iowa passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026.

Pat was born in Ames, Iowa on February 25, 1937 to Lyle and Thelma (Bruce) Kinsella. She grew up in the Ames and Des Moines area. After graduating from St. Joseph Academy in 1955, Pat attended the Iowa State teacher’s college.

Pat met her future husband John at a high school football game. They were married on June 15,1957 at St. John Basilica in Des Moines. In 1968, John and Pat moved their family to Sheldon, Iowa where John opened a CPA practice eventually known as Cain, Ellsworth & Co.

Pat expressed her creativity thru oil and watercolor paintings, spending many hours sharing her passion in art with her own family and community. Pat was a past president of the Lakes Art Center in Spirit Lake and a member of the Iowa Watercolor Society. Always generous with her time, Pat volunteered for many church and community activities. She loved to play bridge and Mahjong with her friends and board games with her grandkids. Most of all Pat loved being a mom, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her surviving family includes 6 children and their families, Ann (Jeff) Berens, John (Valerie) Cain, Kevin (Jane) Cain, Denise (Dan) Urbanski, Jerry (Judy) Cain, Gene (Guadalupe) Cain, 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Janet (Russ) Harney and Kathy Sims, and many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband John of 61 years, sister Mary (Bud) Sieverding, brother Dick (Jeanne) Kinsella, and brother-in-law Jim (Mary) Cain.
