Robert “Bob” Van Gorp, age 68, of Sheldon, Iowa who passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa. His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 7, 2020 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Paul Van Maaren ~ officiating.
Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.
Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 ~ 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.
Social distancing guidelines will take place.

Robert “Bob” Allen Van Gorp, the son of Albert D. and Dorothy B. (Westra) Van Gorp was born on January 19, 1952 in Hull, IA. He received his early education in a country school and from Sheldon Christian School and in 1970 he graduated from Sheldon High School. Bob was united in marriage to Norma Korbyn on September 2, 1970 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. He then farmed with his dad and brother for several years before moving to Norma’s folks farm, where they have farmed and made their home for the past 32 years. Bob also drove truck for Van Wyk and J.T. Trucking out of Sheldon. Bob passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center reaching the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
Bob was a member of the First Reformed Church and a past member of Bethel Reformed Church. He enjoyed farming and trucking and especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Norma of Sheldon, Iowa, and their 7 children, Tammy Ludwig of Freeport, IL; Rob Van Gorp of George, IA; Jennifer (Steve) Smith of Johnston, IA; Stacey Van Gorp (and her fiancée), Jerry Elskamp of Cedar Rapids, IA; Kelly (Drew) Schmidt of Orange City, IA; Ryan Van Gorp of North Liberty, IA; Jodi Van Gorp of Kellogg, IA; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grand-son, a sister, Jolene and Roger Miedema of Raleigh, NC; a sister in-law, Belva Van Gorp of Sheldon, IA; 3 brothers, David (Jane) Van Gorp of Iowa Falls, IA; Daniel (Sherri) Van Gorp of Sheldon, IA and John (Anna) Van Gorp of Sheldon and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, John and Myrtle Korbyn; and a brother, Elwin Van Gorp.
