Robert D. “Bob” Stellinga, 78, of Sheldon passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 17, 2026, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon with Rev. Paul Van Maaren, officiating.
Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

After the graveside service, relatives and friends are invited to join the family in the fellowship hall of the church.
Robert Dale Stellinga the son of Allen (Red) and Ellen (Harmsen) Stellinga was born August 9, 1948 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He received his education through the eighth grade at Rock Rapids Christian School and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1966. He attended Northwestern College in Orange City for two years after which he was drafted into the Army. Bob worked in medical records in the Landstuhl Hospital at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. While there he coached softball to kids living on the base.
Bob was united in marriage to Linda Caswell on October 11, 1975 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple settled in Sheldon where he worked as the office manager at Gary’s Feeds/ Deluxe Feeds and ended his working career at Deluxe Animal Health. He passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 77 years 8 months and 2 days.
Bob’s faith was a cornerstone to his life and he impacted the lives of others in subtle ways. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon and was honored to serve in the Consistory in addition to volunteering wherever needed. In his younger years he played slow pitch and fast pitch softball. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, cheering on or chewing out the Iowa Hawkeyes, and was a Minnesota Twins fan. Most important he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years Linda Stellinga of Sheldon, Iowa; daughter Susan Stellinga of Sheldon, Iowa; son Joe (Lindsay) Stellinga and children Natalie, Ruby and Gavin Stellinga of Davenport, Iowa; son Jeff (Erin) Stellinga and daughter Josephine Stellinga of Arvada, Colorado; his brothers and sisters Marlin (Marlys) Stellinga of Sheldon, Iowa; Ken Stellinga of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Bev (Tim) Starr of Tea, South Dakota; Betty (Bruce) Kelley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister-in-law Rosemary Stellinga of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Allen (Red) and Ellen Stellinga; parents-in-law George and Ruth Caswell; brother Jerry Stellinga, brother-in-law Jay Hein, a sister-in-law Lori DeBuhr, and four nephews.
