Services for Sharon L. Engel, age 75, of Sheldon who passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon with Pastor Paul Van Maaren, officiating.

Private family burial will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

SHARON L. ENGEL

Sharon Lee Engel, the daughter of Don and Grace (Stubbe) Vanden Heuvel, was born on May 20, 1950, in Hull, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1968. After graduating, Sherry attended Stewart’s Beauty School in Sioux City. She later furthered her education and received her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and worked for Van Engelenhoven Insurance Agency. Sherry married Norm Bogaard and to this union two children were born, Teresa and Dirk. The couple later divorced. In 1989, Sherry married Robert Engel, and together they enjoyed traveling and wintering in Gulf Shores Alabama. Sherry passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 75 years and 13 days.

Sherry was known for her hard work ethic as she enjoyed serving her customers, she had a big heart and was an active philanthropist. She also enjoyed cooking and visiting the mountains. She was a passionate Hawkeye wrestling fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert of Sheldon; her children and their spouses, Teresa and Bill Magnussen of LeMars, Iowa, and Dirk and Dagny Bogaard of Buhl, Idaho; step-children and their spouses, Kevin (Traci) Engel of Long Beach, California, Greg and Val Engel of Katy, Texas, and Jeff and Becky Engel of Minneapolis, Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings, Dean and Lisa Stubbe of Frisco, Texas and Linda and Bob Sheley of Spirit Lake, Iowa. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents.
