SHIRLEY MAE RENS
Shirley Mae Krikke, daughter of Luke and Sadie Krikke, was born on October 28, 1941. She attended Sanborn Christian Grade School and graduated from Hartley High School in 1959. On May 3, 1963, she was united in marriage to Alvin Rens. They made their residence in Sheldon most of their married life. In 2013, they moved into the Christian Retirement home. In addition to being a homemaker, Shirley was employed as a caregiver at Cheers Home Health and Hospice and also at Village Northwest Unlimited.
Shirley was a member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed coffee with friends, playing in the bell choir, and participating in other activities at the Christian Retirement Home. Her children and grandchildren were a very important part of her life. She enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in their activities, spending time with them, and most importantly sharing many laughs. She enjoyed spending countless hours tending to her flowers, working outside, and walks with her beloved dog, Sophie. Shirley blessed many with her baking and cooking talents by welcoming family, friends, and anyone who needed a family into her home.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her husband of 53 years, Alvin of Sheldon; children and their spouses, Kevin and Amy Rens of Louisville, Colorado, Lisa and Rick Klein and Kerri and Dane Buren both of Sheldon; six grandchildren, Alexander and Randi Rens, Ashley Klein, Dominic, Brittany and Alyssa Buren; two brothers and their spouses, Leroy and Sherry Krikke of California and Howard and Alvina Krikke of Sheldon, Iowa; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Estelle Bosma; brothers, John and Burdelle Krikke.
