Stanley Jay Vanden Berg, age 82, of Sheldon, IA passed away Wednesday, June 8th at Sanford Health Sheldon Care Center.
Stanley Jay Vanden Berg was born April 4, 1940, to Jake and Jenny (Siebersma) Vanden Berg in Sanborn, IA. He attended school in Sanborn, Matlock and Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon Christian School.
Stan worked nights at Brower Bakery in downtown Sheldon and then worked the route for DeKruif Disposal.
Stan enjoyed many years in the bowling league and never turned down an invitation to go fishing in the summer. There wasn’t a card game that Stan didn’t know and enjoy playing. He was a huge fan of the Sheldon Orabs and Iowa Hawkeyes. His most recent joys included bowling and bingo at the Nursing Home.
Stan was a quiet, sweet, and caring person who was quick to smile when you talked with him. Many around Sheldon knew him as the guy who would cruise around town with his window down and dog poking it head out the window.
Stan was predeceased by his parents Jake and Jenny, his older brother Frank, and his sister Harriet. He is survived by his younger brother Frank as well as extended family.
“Special thank you to cousin, Steve Van Den Berg for always being there for Stan.”
