Tom was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. He attended and graduated from Albert City - Truesdale High School in 1971. On January 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Joni Armstrong at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Amanda, Clayton, Joseph, and Sara. The couple made their home on their acreage west of Albert City. Tom was a man of the land as he farmed for many years and was well known for his gardening skills providing produce to many people during his farmer’s markets. After a few years courageously battling health issues Tom went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 72 Years, 11 Months and 20 days.
Tom was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. He enjoyed tending to his garden, making homemade syrup, making his annual batch of potato bologna, baking bread and going to coffee in town. Tom never met a stranger.
