Services for Tom Mouw, age 72, of Sheldon who passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon with Pastor Paul Van Maaren, officiating.
Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation will be after 4:30 P.M. with family present from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

THOMAS L. MOUW
Thomas Lee Mouw, the son of Thomas Sr. and Bernice (Struyk) Mouw, was born on March 23, 1953, in Sheldon, Iowa. He received an education and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1971. On August 18, 1972, he married Sue Menning, and three children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. On June 25, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jill (Ackerman) Heiliger, and to this union, two children were born. Throughout his years, he farmed with his dad, had a farrow-to-finish confinement of 5000 head of hogs, owned and operated Parkway Motor in Sheldon since 1992, and owned rental properties. Tom always wanted to further his education over the years and took classes at Northwest Iowa Community College in electrical, frame and body, welding, computer programming, and accounting. Tom passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, after a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, reaching the age of 72 years and 24 days.
Tom was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he was previously a youth group sponsor. He had also served as a past president of the Sheldon Athletic Booster Club and was a member of the Iowa Pork Producers and the Iowa Independent Automobile Dealers Association. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at Okoboji, anything car-related, going to Florida, and relaxing at the beach. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Jill Mouw; children: Mark (Lynne) Mouw, Teresa (Steven) Gardfrey, Brian (Mary) Mouw, Mikayla (Andrew) Aller, and Dylan (girlfriend, Ariana Iafoski) Mouw; grandchildren: Jordan (Jamie) Mouw, Lila Mouw, Alyssa and Kylie Schnoor, Jayden, Traizahn, Kelis, and Amaulah Gardfrey, and Braeden and Landen Mouw; great grandchildren: Jaxton, Jovie, Jett and Jera Mouw; sister: Mary (Dave) Brostrom; uncle: Herb (Lorraine) Struyk; Aunt: Elaine Coles; mother-in-law: Leah Rohwer; brothers-in-law: Dr. Michael (Lisa) Ackerman and Franco Moen; and also many other relatives and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Tom Sr. and Bernice Mouw; a granddaughter; father-in-law: Ben Rohwer; grandparents: Joe and Minnie (DeGroot) Mouw and Leonard and Lillian (Williams) Struyk.
