            Funeral services for Vickie D. Stellinga, age 50, of Sheldon who passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Her funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon with Jody Hobmeier ~ officiating.

            Graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton.

            A time of fellowship will be held after the graveside service at the Ashton American Legion.

            The visitation will be after 4 P.M. with family present from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

VICKIE D. STELLINGA

Vickie Dee Stellinga, the daughter of Marvin and Marie (Renken) Bruns was born on May 10, 1973, in Sheldon, Iowa.  She received her education from Sheldon Schools, graduating in 1991.  She furthered her education in accounting at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.   She married Matthew Stellinga in 1999 and the couple separated in 2017.  Vickie worked for Sanford Hospital in Sheldon as a courier from 2002-2014 and began working at Hy-Vee Pharmacy as a pharmacy tech in 2014 until the present.   Vickie passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 50 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Vickie enjoyed repurposing and refinishing antiques and furniture, thrifting and going to and doing her own garage sales, gardening, hosting many events and taking care of her stray Earl.  She loved dinner dates with friends.  She especially loved spending time with her children.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tara Ferguson of Ashton, and Zachary Stellinga of Sheldon; one brother, Curtis Bruns of Ashton; also, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Marie Bruns and paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Otto Bruns and maternal grandparents, Henry and Martha Renken and ex-husband, Matt Stellinga.
