William “Bill” Ray Frerk, son of William Henry and Alvie (Dau) Frerk, was born November 19, 1942, in Primghar, IA. Bill grew up with his 5 sisters on the family farm just north of Sutherland, IA where he learned the ethics of hard work, love of family and respect for others. He met the love of his life, Carol Blom, during his Sophomore year in HS then graduated from Sutherland HS in 1960.
Bill and Carol married on February 21, 1964 and were blessed with over 62 years of marriage. They bought the Frerk family farm in 1965 where they raised their three children: Deb, Gene and Marcia. Together they built a life full of love with endless devotion and dedication to family, farming, milking cows, and raising cattle until they retired from agriculture in 2000. Thereafter, Bill began working maintenance for Mercy Hospital in Primghar while he and Carol bought a building in downtown Sutherland to run their own business B&C Treasures for 11 years. In 2008 they moved off their Century Farm into town at Primghar.
Bill was a hardworking man and a jack of all trades that he successfully passed along to his cherished family. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, trap shooting and playing in Buck Euchre tournaments. He loved setting up at numerous gun shows, buying and selling guns… especially his very favorite the “Winchester”. Over the years Bill also stayed involved with farming. He looked forward to harvest time and running combine for their good friends Dave and Teresa Stoll.
Bill passed away at his home on Monday, August 3, 2026, with his wife and three children by his side. Bill will be greatly missed (chiefly his smile, humor, laugh, and endless tales) by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol of Primghar, IA; daughter Deb and Randy Kenobbie of Laurens, IA; son Gene Frerk (Michelle Hansen) of Nevada, IA; and daughter Marcia and Jim Stander of Ashland, NE; 10 grandchildren/7 great grandchildren: Kim Kenobbie of Emmetsburg, IA; Ben (Dakota) Kenobbie of Clear Lake, IA; Marcus (Amanda) Frerk - Ty and Chrysi of Spencer, IA; Travis (Miranda) Frerk - Fiona and Will of Hudson, IA; Kyle (Chantel) Frerk - Hazel and Remy of Nevada, IA; Wyatt Frerk (Marissane Nieland) - Bella of Zearing, IA; Ava Frerk of Nevada, IA; Masun (Dana) Stander of Pasadena, CA; Tanna Mitchell of Clear Lake, IA; and Easton Mitchell of Ashland, NE.
